Suggestions for an upgrade to a mountain bike?
I have a Butler Pagan d2 and Claud specs are: Frame: 6061 series specific alloy disc with bellows down the large tube, snake stays and head tube of large CNC dropout disk, top round tube, square to rectangular downtube for more efficient transfer of energy. Fork: Suntour SF-XCT disc specific with preload adjustment 75mm travel. Gears: Shimano TX30 21 speed with STI levers. Cranks: Suntour chainset XCCT208 28/38/48T secure. With durable cartridge bottom bracket. Wheels: ZAC2000 Weinmann double wall with CNC braking surface. Equipped with 32 hole black alloy quick release disc centers. Kenda Koyote 26x1.95 Off road. Brakes: Quad QMD-5 mechanical disc system on 160mm pulse rotor. Address: Oversize "Aheadset" with alloy ahead stem and a vertical bar that you would like upgrade parts for this bike a little at a time but not sure what the next step is! Any suggestions would be great:)
Pretty decent bike there. I do not change much. Obvious choices would be: 1. Tyres working in the field to be on them. If you like what you have to leave him alone. Otherwise go to your store local bicycle and get their input. 2. The fork must be replaced if you go off road. Suntour makes good components, but the forks were not there specialty. Try Rock Shox, Manitou, Fox, Marzocchi. These are the companies that have been around a long fork and for a reason. 3. A suspension seatpost. Them can take the edge off severe shock and a very reasonable cost. I worked for years with nothing special done to it at all. 4. Lance Armstrong will tell you: It is not of the bike. That's true. Basically riding this bike until it becomes clear that something must change. Above all, have fun!
