Hell's Angels Brawl at Bike Week-Daytona Beach, Florida
It was a little over a week ago when I was sitting at the airport on board a plane that would take away my hellish winter in the Northeast. The feelings of excitement crept up my spine, my body early in advance. In few hours I will be lying on a beach in the sunshine state, where all I'm going to study the female anatomy and the menu of drinks in the bar. As board aircraft, visions of girls beach and coconut rum dance through my head. I turn to my traveling companion Jim, who is shaking to the music blaring from your headphones. Of faint letters, I could make words pumping heart of Kelly Clarkson "Since You've Been Gone." Hombre Jesus, what Are you listening? "" Dude, I'm getting pumped cried again. Different strokes for different folks. All I knew was that we were ready to loosen.
Two hours later the pilot's voice came over the intercom: "At a time when we will land in Daytona Beach, Florida. Time is 83 degrees and sunny. Have a great spring break and enjoy bike week. "It was music to my ears. I did not know it was bike week, but few best, right? Jim and I approached the baggage carousel and anxiously awaited our luggage. As the red blinking light started spinning and motors on tape conveyor noise began, we focus on the hole spitting out bags, knowing that was the last responsibility would face over the next six days.
Our bags finally dropped out, we grabbed immediately. Outside the terminal we met with our taxi driver, a scruffy, haggard looking man named Gilberto. His face was tanned from years in the sun, which could have been an advertisement for sunscreen. This guy was a character and oh boy Did he have stories. He told us stories about girls, bikers, crocodiles - anything you can imagine, completely full of it, but entertaining. Kept feeding us ridiculous information, and he knew what they were eating. Thirty minutes, $ 26, and few good laughs later, Gil good ol 'let in the Sea Spray Motel. It was the best accommodation, but suffice to two boys on spring break.
Jim and I turned into our swimming trunks and hit the Boulevard. We were new in town so we decided to visit a bar that Gilberto recommended called "the oil spill." As we entered the bar, it seemed that the thing out of a movie-the crowd instantly silent. The music might have skipped. We approach the bar, ordered some drinks and the crowd seemed to continue with their conversations and stories. What Gilberto forgot to mention that the bar was a Hell's Angels hang out. Jim and I stuck out like a sore thumb, to say less. We relaxed and chatted about plans for the rest of the week, but grew nervous as we heard a strong rumble from outside. It sounded like 500 motorcycles were slowly around our location.
This is when Jim and I knew we were in trouble. A scrawny man with long gray hair and a beard goat, even longer, looked out the window and shouted, "Banditos!" And with one word every biker stood up. What followed is too brutal for discuss really, but there was a fight. Fearing for our lives, Jim and I sat at the bar and all I could hide in the corner under a table until the waiter took us out through the back door. Apparently, an Angel stole a loading ramp from the Banditos, who did not take too well.

As for Jim and I, we retreated to our motel and steered clear of biker bars for the next week. Who knew that stealing Motorcycle loading ramps could spark massive biker battles? At least, I don’t need to worry about bikers stealing my Pace Edwards tonneau cover back home in the northeast; the weather is too cold for them. –Mike Rosania
